So loving March

The March ScrapaGoGo Kit - Happy Hive.
Here is the second Lo I've made with it so far.

We Love To Travel...
The Glitz papers along with ScrapaGoGo's exclusive hybrids & stamp were the starting point for this Lo documenting how we like to explore different places & countries as a family.

I used a chipboard cloud from the ScrapaGoGo Feb kit as a template to make a cloud mask to paint the background before attaching the cut out planes on foam pads.

 Many thanks for looking x

Doing our bit ...

It was all Harriets idea :)
to try & make a difference & help those that need it both at home & abroad. We signed up for the Sports Relief Mile to find you could actually do longer distances. So we chose the 6 miler ( longest distance on offer) for our challenge.

Getting ready.

A beautiful day for it.

Walking around Warwick Uni's picturesque campus.

A winning smile x

Hobbycraft Show.

You can't live as close to this show as I do & not go can you ?
I think there is nothing better than seeing craft items in real life giving you a chance to feel the quaily or colour match ...

Personally the crafting hall was a little sparse but I did apprieciate the wider aisles. I did buy a few ink pads & stamps but there seemed to be a lot less paper to choose from this time.

Next door in the Sewing for Pleasure Hall was a different story with stalls packed with beautiful materials fron all over the world & demonstations on quilting, rugging, tatting & more.
I spent the majority of both my time & my money in there.

Beautiful fabrics.

More wool.

Plus the beginnings of another hobby- Quilting !!
I obtained an inexpensive mini jelly roll & backing fabric & plan to give this a whirl :)

Also I got to meet shop owners from around this area giving a wider variety of bricks & motar shops for me to support.

All in all a fab day out xxx

Make a wish...

Over at Twisted Sketches this week it was my turn to create with sketch 143 with the twist - Wish.

I remembered that when we were in Florida at Easter 2010 we had lunch at Cinderella's table in the Castle in Magic Kingdom. The whole experience, a treat for Harriet's birthday, was truly magical. During the meal Harriet got to make a wish using a special wand & wishing star & this is the moment this photos have captured.

The stamp used for the mason jar is from American Crafts.
The stars are chipboard cut with the Sizzix then embossed & sprayed silver. The metal word I've had forever!

 Many thanks for looking x

Fabulous Weekend x

What a weekend we've just had, so much going on for us all & never a dull moment.

On saturday I travelled to Olympia in London to see all the Olympic Quilts exibited for the public & to find out where our quilt would be going. All The Nuneaton Crop Ladies who worked on the quilt were there to see it together which made this even more special. There was a lot of interest in our quilt by the public which was so exciting to see considering we are scrapbookers & crafters not quilters & made me a little giddy to be honest Our quilt is going to the Finnish Olympic Team. Maybe we will have to organise a trip to go visit it :D

On Sunday we had a big family tea to celebrate both Mothers Day & Harriets birthday as she had performed in the Scout Gangshow twice on her actual birthday & certainly deserved to be spoiled :)

She wasn't the only one & I recieved 3 lovely cards, flowers & gifts that I'm very grateful for.
I'm also extremely proud of my boys for completing The Chase Walk with their ESU, walking 40 miles in such great times is truly amazing Guys xxx

many thanks for stopping by & I hope you had a lovely weekend too.

Twelve years ago today...

I know exactly where I was!
Firstly pacing about at home trying to kick start my labour after going 5 days over!
By the early evening it was obvious things were on the move & after getting to the hospital it became pretty clear we were going to be saying Hello to our new baby on St Patricks Day :)

At 11.30pm we welcomed Harriet Rose in to the world.

In a blink of an eye, 12 years has passed and this beautiful baby has grown into a friendly, polite, creative, thoughtful & perfect daughter.
Happy Birthday Harriet xxx
love you loads

Happy Hive

I'm just loving using my ScrapaGoGo March kit- Happy Hive, the contents were just the right mix to use with a photo I took of my daughter as we are about to celebrate her birthday, when I look at this photo I'm shocked by how quick time is passing, it doesn't seem long since she was a babe in arms...

Being 12.
I used the My Minds Eye paper to create little frames to showcase some of the lovely embellishments from the kit by punching a circle then raising the panel on foam pads.

 many thanks for looking x

Mastering ripple!

I got a couple of crochet books for Christmas but with the move & all I didnt get a good chance to really sit down & study them the way I wanted to.
Well we are much more settled now at home &whilst have a flick through, this cushion cover in one of the books caught my eye. I really wanted to choose the wool in real life! rather than on the internet, so on the recommendation of a Scouting friend I went to town to a wool shop I didn't know existed! & found exactly what I wanted :)

The plan is to make 4 of these for our new lounge sofas. I'm totally loving this pattern as its easy to remember & with varigated wool there will be no major ends sewing- yay !! I did do a trial piece first just to be sure it was suitable for my novice skills & lucky for me the pattern is well written & easy to follow.

A couple more rows & I'll be sewing this beauty up. Then I'll show it to you again.

Think I'd better explain...

...why my badge for the forth coming GoGo Getaway looks like this!!
Have you ever had crafty thoughts that just off at a tangent ? well this was one of those times for me!

It all started with the thought that this will be Getaway number 8 or as it crossed my mind ATE!
Also the octagonal badge template was kinda pie shaped... are you with me so far!
The next thing I know I'm inking pie crust & crimping around my pie with embroidery cotton.

It's finished with little chipboard birds inked & UTEE'd with sparkling gem eyes reminding me of the childhood nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence".

I rather like the finished article :) but when I showed one of my lads he said "Who ate all the pies ?!"
Many thanks for looking x

Scrapping...

Whilst away recently with friends I got a little scrapping done & thought I'd share.
I love this photo taken last April of our Daughter & knew the October Afternoon papers- Sidewalks were what this photo needed :) I'd already used some of these papers before so wasn't left with much to use but I quite like the white space on this Lo.

The Sky's The Limit.
The coloured picture actually started out plain cream, from the October Afternoon Sidewalk Miscellany pack. I used watered down Tim Holtz distress inks to "watercolour" the children & background to add interest & detail.

To finish off I added some pearl gems & a couple of punched clouds
( thanks Jackie for the borrow :) )& my letter stickers.
Hope you like it.
